Making up for lost time

I've been pretty lax with the updates on this page. So to make it up for it I'm posting some interesting copy links. Check 'em out below.

Zig Zigler on copywriting: http://blog.onecoach.com/2008/12/09/how-to-sell-in-print-the-secret-of-writing-killer-copy/

Joe Vitale on publicity for your business: http://blog.onecoach.com/2008/12/08/how-to-get-publicity-for-your-business/

Some Cool Copy!

Do you know how Robert Ringer is? He's a self-help legend and best-selling author. In other words, he's damn good.

Did you know he loves the copy on this page? He had this to say about it:

"Don't know how I came across this link, but I'm obliged to tell you that it's really excellent ad copy. I rarely compliment anyone's copywriting, as most of the stuff out there is schlock. But if you wrote thisyourself, my hat's off to you. Good to see quality stuff for a change."

See the copy he's talking about on Joe Vitale's page. It's right here.

Letting Go

Today I had decided to spend the day working on a few projects and relax my focus on the full-time job search (and relax the worries too!). And when I did, I got a call from a potential new client. She saw my response to her request for sales copy assistance and liked my samples.

So I called her back, we talked for awhile and I'll be sending her our recommendations by early next week.

It's nice when unexpected surprises like that light up my day. I was happy to talk to her, she's a fellow Wisconsinite with some interesting and exciting projects in the works. It'll be great fun to help her and watch her business expand.

It seems things unfold when I relax and let go. So I'll follow that plan of attack from here on out.

That was one my day's highlights. The other was a conference call with Joe Vitale by Healthy-n-Wealthy. Joe gave a great talk about his life, following your inspiration and his new book Zero Limits. It was a fun and uplifting hour.

Now I'm off to bed...it was another exciting day!

Create a nice day,

Super Sunday

Today was another lovely day! I worked a bit, made some contacts about copywriting jobs, emailed other people to thank them for their giveaway gifts and generally enjoyed the day.

I'm still reading The Attractor Factor so I thought I'd pass along another terrific article by Joe.
The book provides a five-step process to attracting whatever you desire. This article is a great look at one of the most essential parts to manifesting your wants. Enjoy!

Here it is...

Books, books, books

Not much going on in my world. Yesterday I contacted more ad agencies in the Denver metro area. I also picked up Timothy Ferriss' "The 4-Hour Workweek" at a local bookstore. I haven't started it yet as I'm also working on "The Attractor Factor" and am only half-finished with Joe's terrific book.

I love to read and I'm excited to apply the information in both of these! Books are fantastic and reading will always be one of my favorite pasttimes. I highly recommend it!

That's about it from here - I'm off to a toga party tonight! Enjoy your weekend.

Create a nice day,

Lara

What's your threshold?

The last month has pushed me over my threshold repeatedly but the last 2 weeks have been particularly difficult. I've never been a big fan of change but now that I understand why change occurs and that the end result can be positive (if I make the choice to see the positive), it's become easier.

Notice I said easier...not easy. Change still isn't my favorite thing in the world.

Today I found a bit of clarity though and I have Bill Harris to thank yet again. My internal map of reality is changing and pushing me above my threshold so I've been uncomfortable. I'm uncomfortable seeking copywriting jobs with ad agencies because it's new territory. I'm uncomfortable not knowing what my mailing address is going to be on July 1st because that again is new territory and very undefined.

So what's the easiest approach to all of this? Simple: raise my threshold and remember whatever happens is ok.

Yes easier said than done but at least I know how to approach my current circumstances and that is making a huge difference in my response. I'm finding I have an incredible ability to find peace, love and joy in all events and situations right now. No not at every moment of every day but I can find that inner calm much more frequently.

To further aide me I am reading Joe Vitale's The Attractor Factor. I love Joe and his work. This book is incredible. It's another fun tool to help me create!

One of my intentions is to find a full-time copywriting job by June 27th so that is where my focus was today. I spent the day sending emails to ad agencies and showcasing my talents. I had 2 responses...one I initially interpreted as snarky and condescending. And it probably was.

But then I decided that person was someone I wouldn't want to work with anyway...if they would talk that way to someone they didn't know, imagine how they would talk to someone they did know! Clearly that person and that agency just isn't inline with my goals and dreams and I'm not inline with theirs. And so it is!

The second was a nice, personal note from the HR Director thanking me for my interest. It was an actual email though - not a standard rote response - so I was happy with that.

Tomorrow is more of the same along with fixing up the sales letter for a mailing.

Create a nice day!

My Top Five Daily Success Steps

This post was inspired by Joe Vitale's post which you can read here. Joe lists the top 10 things he does every day to be successful. And as you all know, I am a big big fan of Joe and his teachings. He asked his readers to post our top five and link back to him so here's my list.

1.) Gratitude
Every morning when I get up, I say thank you outloud. I thank the universe that I am alive and kicking that day! Each day is a new chance to learn, grow and create. Those are some of the best reasons to give thanks!

I also keep a gratitude journal and write a one page list of all the things I'm thankful for. My final line each day is the same: I'm so thankful for me, for the Universe (we are one and the same) and for the life I am creating. Gratitude is so powerful and it sets the tone for my day. It's a practice I learned from one of my other favorite teachers, James Ray.

2.) Write my goal and carry it with me.
Each morning before I start my work day, I write my goal on a post-it, tuck it in my pocket and keep it on my person all day. I take it out and review it at least twice a day (morning and evening)...usually more often. This is a tool I also picked up from James Ray (I think this may be a Stephen Covey technique..not sure).

I should add my goal and how I write it because that's important:

I'm so happy now that I'm creating $100,000 in profits for my business and am working with a team of 10 world class copywriters who also create the profits they desire.

You'll notice I write it in the current tense which is key. It puts me in a state of feeling the experience, not wishing or desiring it. That may sound like a slight distinction but it's very important.

3.) Get Outside!
This usually comes in the form of exercise whether training for my half-marathon or just walking the dog.

And I love the outdoors, it invigorates my soul and recharges my body. I live in the glorious state of Colorado where the sun shines over 300 days a year. I moved here roughly 3 years ago from the cold, overcast Midwest (Wisconsin to be exact) and the sun blesses me with her glory. And when I'm outside, I'm always thankful I had the courage to move across the country and settle in a place I love!!

4.) Read
Joe and I share this common daily tactic. I'm a voracious reader and am often reading 4 or 5 books at the same time (another trait Joe and I share). I've steered away from fiction of late and read most anything I can get my hands on in the realms of spirituality, psychology, copywriting, marketing and personal development. There's simply so much knowledge to be gained and explored. I honestly wish everyone read more! Go to the library people - it's good for you!! :)

5.) Holosync Daily Meditation
You can review my earlier posts about Holosync. I simply LOVE it. There aren't enough words in the English language for me to express my gratitude, joy and love for Bill Harris' amazing technology.

I have always enjoyed meditation but wasn't as disciplined as I could've been. It can be hard to sit still for an hour...especially if you don't see the results. That is not the case with Holosync. I feel so amazingly alive and vibrant. My world is clearer and more intense. Anyone who has ever had an incredible meditative or yoga session can understand what I'm expressing. Holosync is the only thing I have found that helps me create this same feeling every single day.

Not only that, it allows me to be clearer about my thoughts, feelings and intentions. I have a better grasp of me! How wonderful is that?!

And I'm only on the first level. Woo hooo!!!

I'm excited for the adventures, explorations and discoveries I'll uncover in next 11 levels!

6.) Top Six List
Yes I said I was only going to list five but I remembered a sixth step I take every day. I write down my top six items to accomplish the next day that will move me towards my goal. This was something I heard James Ray, Dan Kennedy and a few others say they do on a daily basis.

After I write the top six, I circle the one thing I fear the most and decide to conquer it first every day! That's a Robert Allen trick. Good one right?!

So there you have it, my top six daily tips.

What are yours? Link back to me and to Joe's blog..share your secrets!

Til tomorrow....

Lara

P.S. I'm also adding a 7th technique: to say I love you every single day and feel it!

A Few Additions...

I did accomplish several tasks this weekend in addition to attending church this morning.

Here's what I worked on over the weekend:

  • bought Bob Bly's The Copywriters Handbook
  • also bought Joe Vitale's The Attractor Factor
  • email to Listdotcom.com members
  • began first CD in Robert Allen's Empower Yourself!
  • crafted my personal mission statement based on that CD
  • watched Rocky
  • watched The Apprentice
  • finished the sales letter
  • blog entries
  • handwriting
I just want to say that I LOVE the fact that reading is a task. I have always been a voracious reader..the library and the bookstores are my favorite places (along with the spa and any spot in the nearby Rocky Mountains).

Isn't life grand?!

Til tomorrow...

A Light At The End Of The Tunnel

We're in the home stretch...30 more days in the apprenticeship program. I get a bit fascinated when I think about how I've progressed, the changes we've made and the copy we've created. It is probably the hardest thing I've ever done...which tells me it's the BEST thing I've ever done.

I didn't have much when I started this program. I was halfway through my 30th year on this planet, I've moved between 6 different jobs/companies in 6 years. I had some money saved but my monthly income fluctuated quite a bit and I wasn't getting any new writing clients.

I felt unsure of my next step. The one thing I knew was that I wanted to be a copywriter. Frankly I had no idea how I was going to make that happen but I knew it had to happen.

My only other option was to join the Peace Corps and live in a Third World country. As much as I love to help others I also like my creature comforts so that wasn't my most favored option. Basically it was this or nothing. No, there wasn't even a nothing option. It was just this program, this moment, this person (me).

So it came to be and I latched onto this chance, this hope, this vision. Here I am today. A different woman. Truly I believe I am becoming the woman I am meant to be.

Truthfully? I'm glad no one told me just how tough parts of this were going to be. I have felt beat up this week but as I said in my post yesterday, I'm learning to let go. To simply be in the present moment, acknowledge the feeling and let it pass. Sounds a helluva lot easier than it is!

But that is where I am and soon it will happen with no effort.

Today was a step closer to that. We wrapped up our 7 sequential emails and oh my are they good! I'm quite tickled that I wrote them. I'm proud. It was a big learning curve as evidenced by the 12 hours I spent writing them.

But the next set of emails will come easier and with one or two more repetitions they will flow like a gentle stream.

It's interesting when you tap into that present state of being and you work on a task. It stops being work. Work is "hard" for most people or at least society tells us it should be. When you're consciously in tune with this very moment there is no "hard". It takes some effort of course... but the effort is like softly petting your cat. That's the kind of effort I like!!

Other efforts I made today
  • email to Listdotcom.com
  • emailed apprentices
  • listened to yesterday's calls (still a bit painful...am letting that go!)
  • blog
  • handwriting
Now I am off to read some more "Hypnotic Writing" before my Holosync bedtime ritual. LOVE using my Holosync before I sleep by the way...I have the most lucid dreams. It's incredible!

Til tomorrow...
